01. BE YOUR FABRIC

“Be Your Fabric” was an applied project I developed during my university years in Polimoda, in particular while I was attending my fourth and final one of my course. Born from a collaboration between the school and Bellandi SPA (an important textile manufacturer located in Prato, Italy), the project consisted in developing a single apparel garment using the fabrics provided by the company, with the focus being trying to design a piece starting from the research of the materials. My decision was to create a piece of outerwear, an oversize trenchcoat made out of a nice wool I found in Bellandi’s warehouse. The exterior was entirely printed following a pattern I created and on the back I decided to experiment with a 3D printed artwork. Those two manipulations were realised with the help of MOST SRL. The project went well, and in the end I came second in front of an external jury.

02. WIDE RECEIVER

“Wide Receiver” is one of the three outerwear pieces I developed for my Final in Polimoda, valid for my degree. The capsule collection revolves around few core themes. First, there is the fear of the future (in my case the mist that covers what’s next at the end of a path), which I connected to “cosmic horror” as in the fear of the unknown vastly explored by the author H. P. Lovecraft in his stories. Then I adopted American football silhouettes as a protection and prevention against the topic just explained. The result was an unapologetic streetwear collection, made out of aggressive graphics and manipulations.

“Wide Receiver” is an oversize denim cropped jacket meshed with a quilted semi-gilet attached undertneath. Adorned with metallic accessories and a big embroidered artwork on the back, the garment is completed by orange embroidered details representing barbed wire.

“Quarterback” is an oversize racing jacket made out of panels of black and white pigmented leather. Adorned with metallic accessories and orange embroidered barbed wire images along the points of junctions between the panels, the garment stands out thanks to the many embroidered patches and artworks, especially the impressive one located on the back.

04. OVERCENTER

“Overcenter” is one of the three outerwear pieces I developed for my Final in Polimoda, valid for my degree.

“Overcenter” is a giant varsity jacket made out of precious black and white wools, which are filled beneath with metres and metres of padding. Adorned with metallic accessories and orange embroidered barbed wire images, the jacket stands out (other than the big volumes) thanks to the multiple extensive embroidered details across. In particular, the one on the back, which has the orange characters in 3D realised with the carpet stitch technique.

05. ACE CREAM

Ace Cream is a fantasy tennis platform that blends technology and creativity to deliver a unique, strategic, and socially interactive experience for tennis fans. A SPOAT S.r.l. project that reimagines the way tennis is experienced.

I fell in love with this project immediately, and didn’t think twice once they contacted me for some help. I focused my attention on polishing the brand identity, which had already some solid foundations previously built by another graphic artist. Once that was done, the guys asked me for some social media contents to be posted on their Instagram profile. The graphics turned out looking clean and made everyone happy.

06. PORSCHE

During my last year in Polimoda, the university organised a project in collaboration with Centro Porsche Firenze. The six best students in graphic design were selected to participate in what was the development of the car livery of the GT3 RS, which would race in the annual GT Carrera Cup. We didn’t have many limitations, with the only requirement being representative of the city of Florence, as that car in particular would have represented the car dealership of that location. I developed a giant 4x6m print depicting the top down map of the city, that wrapped seamlessly around the slick lines of the car, and used the river Arno (in red) to remind of the very popular choice among cars’ enthusiasts of vertical lines. It turned out to be a winning idea, as I was proclaimed winner getting more than half of the votes available. Polimoda organised a party in their beautiful location in Villa Favard, where the model was shown for the first time. To this day, it remains the happiest day of my life. The GT3 RS would then race in Monza with that print.
