During my last year in Polimoda, the university organised a project in collaboration with Centro Porsche Firenze. The six best students in graphic design were selected to participate in what was the development of the car livery of the GT3 RS, which would race in the annual GT Carrera Cup. We didn’t have many limitations, with the only requirement being representative of the city of Florence, as that car in particular would have represented the car dealership of that location. I developed a giant 4x6m print depicting the top down map of the city, that wrapped seamlessly around the slick lines of the car, and used the river Arno (in red) to remind of the very popular choice among cars’ enthusiasts of vertical lines. It turned out to be a winning idea, as I was proclaimed winner getting more than half of the votes available. Polimoda organised a party in their beautiful location in Villa Favard, where the model was shown for the first time. To this day, it remains the happiest day of my life. The GT3 RS would then race in Monza with that print.

I fell in love with this project immediately, and didn’t think twice once they contacted me for some help. I focused my attention on polishing the brand identity, which had already some solid foundations previously built by another graphic artist. Once that was done, the guys asked me for some social media contents to be posted on their Instagram profile. The graphics turned out looking clean and made everyone happy.

“Overcenter” is one of the three outerwear pieces I developed for my Final in Polimoda, valid for my degree. The capsule collection revolves around few core themes. First, there is the fear of the future (in my case the mist that covers what’s next at the end of a path), which I connected to “cosmic horror” as in the fear of the unknown vastly explored by the author H. P. Lovecraft in his stories. Then I adopted American football silhouettes as a protection and prevention against the topic just explained. The result was an unapologetic streetwear collection, made out of aggressive graphics and manipulations.
“Overcenter” is a giant varsity jacket made out of precious black and white wools, which are filled beneath with metres and metres of padding. Adorned with metallic accessories and orange embroidered barbed wire images, the jacket stands out (other than the big volumes) thanks to the multiple extensive embroidered details across. In particular, the one on the back, which has the orange characters in 3D realised with the carpet stitch technique.
Ita: “Overcenter” e’ uno dei tre capi di outerwear sviluppati per il Final del Polimoda, valido per la mia laurea. La capsule collection si evolve intorno ad un paio di concetti fondamentali. Per primo, si parla del concetto di paura del futuro (applicato alla mia persona si riferisce alla nebbia che copre il dopo alla fine di un percorso), connesso all’ “orrore cosmico”, la paura dell’ignoto che l’autore H. P. Lovecraft ha vastamente esplorato nelle sue storie. Inoltre, ho deciso di adottare le silhouette proprie del football americano, metafora di protezione e prevenzione rispetto all’idea alla quale faccio riferimento sopra. Ne e’ cosi’ nata una forte collezione streetwear, che si erge su pilastri quali grafiche e manipolazioni aggressive.
“Overcenter” e’ una gigantesca varsity jacket realizzata con delle preziose lane di colore bianco e nero, sotto le quali si hanno metri e metri di ovatta pesante. Adornata con accessori metallici zincati e dettagli di filo spinato ricamati in arancione, la giacca si erge (oltre che grazie ai grandi volumi) grazie ai molteplici lavori di ricamo. In particolare, quello sulla schiena, che si distingue per i caratteri sviluppati secondo la tecnica del punto tappeto.
